Summer Math Assignment
Your Dreambox account will be active all summer -- hooray! To keep up with your math skills, you are asked to work on Dreambox for a total of 3 hours for those going into grades 1-4 and 6 hours for those going into grade 5 over the course of the summer. Your teacher and parents will be able to check on your progress. If you put in more than the minimum time, you will receive bonus points!
Parents, remember NOT to assist with Dreambox work, so that the computer program can accurately provide support and reinforcement if your child is struggling. If you have technical difficulties, please call the school office over the summer.
To get to Dreambox, go to the school website, click "Students," then look for the Dreambox link.
Special Note for Students Entering 4th Grade
In addition to Dreambox, students are to complete 6 (3 multiplication and 3 division) math facts worksheets. These are worksheets which contain basic multiplication and division facts.
In order to retain your basic math fact knowledge over the summer, students should not complete all the sheets at once. It is recommended that students complete one worksheet a week.
Students entering fourth grade are expected to know their basic facts quickly and correctly at the start of the year. Each week we will have a “Math Fact Worksheet” where students will solve 100 multiplication or division problems within 5 minutes. Please consider using flashcards to study regularly throughout the summer. These flashcards can even be purchased at the dollar store!
